東京造形大学に新設された「CS PLAZA」のカフェテリアの家具計画。屋内のテーブル、椅子、カウンターの他、テラスの屋外用のテーブルと椅子、カフェカウンター等をデザインしている。
カフェテリアというものが、本来、単に食事やお茶を飲む場所ではなく、会話や思索にふけったりすることを受け入れてくれる空間と考えれば、ここでの家具は、なおさら学生たちのコミニュケーションや想像力の“下地のようなもの”として存在するのが一番いいと考えた。ゆえに、家具を単体として強く表現するというより、トータルで約500席集まったシーン全体の佇まいを常に意識していた。屋内の家具は、タフで経年変化を引き受けていく竹の集成材を主な材料として使用している。

This project is for the newly established cafeteria “CS PLAZA” of Tokyo Zokei University.
We have designed tables, chairs, and counters for indoor use, and also exterior tables and chairs for the terrace, and counters for the cafe and more.
My intention was that the most ideal concept is to let furniture work as “foundation-like” object to support students’ communication or imagination. It is because the cafeteria is not simply for having meals or enjoying teatime but also for having conversation with others, or getting absorbed in thought. With this idea, each furniture unit was designed not to be showy, and the atmosphere as a whole space with totally 500 seats was constantly in my consideration. The bamboo plywood, which is very durable for long-term use, is selected as a main material for the indoor furniture.
