“ensemble” is a furniture collection of benches and low tables (Chabudai) designed for the project “House for Everyone – Community Center” in the devastated area after the Kumamoto earthquake. (Architects: CHIBA MANABU ARCHITECTS, Atelier Bow-Wow)
The word “ensemble” means “together” or “harmony” in French. Since it could also refer to fashion coordination or musical terms (instrumental ensemble, choir), “ensemble” represents exactly that furniture for “everyone” to use together, and this is why I chose this name.
As a material, domestic chestnut wood is selected for its resistance of water and decay.
The goal of this furniture design was to make various combinations possible, as well as to keep an idyllic and soft atmosphere in the style.
